Default speedo question

I picked up a 1975 fxe in march it had a police special speedo mounted but no cable or drive .... I see there is a drive plug on the trans. I also noticed the old girl has a 16" front wheel so I am wondering how I should attempt to drive the speedo ... speedo is marked 1:1 any and all info greatly appreciated

Hi Clyde, I am in the same situation, except I have no speedo at all. I have a plug in my trans ,but I have noticed on ebay there is fine and course gears on the trans drive...how do I know which one to buy?
Wheel drive is out on the left hand side because I have a dome type thing on my hub
The chassis numbers say mine is a '75 FXE but mine has a 16 inch wheel upfront.
(Wideglide)
I am new to Harleys and I am confused
If you have any answers for me I would appreciate it
Cheers Paul

Gotta watch that depending on years the trans drive had both 1:1 and the later 2:1 in them and the front wheel drive's had 3 diff ratios .

OP google Vtwins catalog and look up speedo's & drives they have a list of what fits what , can be a pain sometimes .

Smile still confused !

Thanks for that !
Is there any way of telling what drive I need by taking off the blanking plug on the trans and looking at the gear inside... the cable drives available appear to be 13 teeth and 23 teeth..one is very fine and the other one much courser.
I figure the gear inside the trans should look as course or as fine as their respective cable drives...or am I barking up the wrong tree...so to speak
