Squeek !
BUT,, I have this annoying "squeek" that i can not locate and/or fix.
it appears to be rotational.
My description is vague and imprecise at best, so just looking for ideas on what to try and/or what it might possibly be? It's not constant, but rotational.
my guess is left rear. It starts at about 10 mph, and happens under acceleration as well as with the clutch in and coasting downhill,, even with the clutch out and in neutral,, with or without the rear brake on..?
I have put wd40 on everything, no help.
.
any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks

oh,, the only "other" thing it does that's odd, is the very first time i let the clutch out i get this pretty sturdy grabbing/growling noise.... what is really odd is that it only happens one time, every time out, and again just the very first time i let the clutch out when pulling out of the barn. and never again?
any ideas on that too?
thanks..
The squeek we're gonna need some more input , check the brake calipers & rotor maybe .
Having it running on a stand can be very dangerous. Make sure it is secure and your helper doesn't stick their hands, feet or head where it can be lobbed off. An ideal place to do this would be on a dyno. Have a fan pushing air through the motor so it doesn't overheat. I have a 36" fan I use for this purpose.
Good luck.
took the rear pads off,, about 3/16 left,,
cleaned them up good, and then hit them lightly with some errory cloth, and also ran the emery cloth around the rotor.
also put a bit of brake grease between the pad and the spacer.
Also put a dial indicator on the rotor and it it is (+) (-) 3 thousandth,,,,looked really good...
.
and man,, do i still have a squeek...
.
no clue on what to do next,,
I'm really not comfortable on putting it into the air and cranking it up....
but that maybe what i need to do...
.
any other thoughts would be welcome..
thaks,,
.
oh,,
how do you get that caliper off ?
The other thought is the tires are harder than newer ones and have a flat spot in them for 50 miles or so and cause shocks to work up and down and giving you a Squeak. Ride it for 50 + miles . jack it up , put in neutral, rotate and feel tire as to roundness. check sides while you are at it you may have a bubble.
Feel up on top of tire in the fender. There is wires and clips up there. Also the bottom lip of the fender Tag Frame may be in contact with tire. We had one doing this at American Icon Cycles in Denton, Tx. Had to Mill out the Tag frame on both outside edges. It stopped the rubbing.
I am assuming the squeak is as you say rotational / wheel related or something contacting it in a regular fashion time wise. NOT having to do with bumps and the rear end going up and down. Maybe you will have to ride by Susan a few times and see if she can hear the location. 'hard to do' beside the road. Will she ride 2 up?
Good luck.

Possibly even a misalignment of the rear tire.
Maybe wheel bearings?
Get it up on a lift and take a good look for side wear on the belt, worn pulleys, etc.

it was a dirty / greasy drive belt..
all it took was a little dawn detergent, hot water and a scrub brush.
.
apparently the "squeak" was a "chirp", and google was full of ideas!
as always, thanks everyone for the input / ideas..
