I do ! If you rotor is in good condition all you need is the stator/reg I like the 32 amp system due to the fact that the stator plug sticks outside the case (great connection ) The price is great so go with the whole system ! I have put 22amp rotors on 32 amp systems and maybe the 17 amp rotors would work as well ?
what gets me is -- its charging 12.8 volts with the light on -- wont go any higher but it will drop to 12.00 at idle -- i wonder if this is normal with the old stock system TWIZTED!!! ring da bell bro
up date-- rode the bike-- seems ok -- starts right up even after 3 hours -- doesnt charge over 12.8 actually at an idle its 12.3 -- bike off and its 12.5
Seems like you got it figured out....but for reference. I updated my 22 amp system on my 84 FLH and went to a 32 amp system from CycleElectric. More expensive than others but so far it has been worth it. Still think that sometimes you get what you pay for.
And not a big proponent of chrome regulator. They draw enough heat from the road sitting low on the bike without adding more with the chrome.
