My Batt seems to be slowly going down in charge,i have put my volt meter on the batt while bike is running and i only get 12 volt reading. What else can i cheek, any thing on the generator to montor. My gen lite dose come on if low rpm,so this seems to be working.Harbri
turn the lights on and check it -- you need more of a draw than just the engine running -- my old stock system runs 12.3 lights on -- lots of things -- box - stator - magnet in rotor came loose - wiring problems -- test at the battery and test at the plug in and the stator
I took sandpaper and cleaned the points in the voltage regulator today and now the gen lite goes off at 1500 RPM,i am still not seeing any change at the batt if i hold the volt meter to it and reving the bike up.Is there an ajustment on the regulator to up the volts from gen to batt. Driving here is a lot of short runs, mostly city driving.
not sure if this will work,, but try to pull up this old thread..

i had the same issue last year, and the folks on this page provide some outstanding trouble shooting steps...
Try checking out the water level of battery if it goes down or what? Also look out whether poles are corroded or else? I used to check batteries while motorcycle shipping. So, I know some do's and don'ts about battery cautions.
