hey, just bought this bike . 1979 80 cubic in . Been redone with high compression pistons. heads ported and flowed. Turns over real hard...I'm thinking I need a high torque starter. Runs great after you get it started. I'd like to know what that I can get on a low budget but still do the job....thanks john
before they had such a thing we would push the starter button and kick it at the same time - i have a guy comes to the shop been doing that 20 plus years
all ***** makes one but you need a 350 amp battery to go with it -- johnjzjz
Had my 81 Shovel bored/stroked to 102", stock starter barely turn it so I wired a toggle switch to kill power to the coil so it wouldn't fire...toggle off, ignition on,hit the starter until the engine gets spinning good then flip on the toggle putting power on the coil...bike fires up.I know it sucks but money was tight and this worked until I got a spyke starter....hope this helps.
today almost every electronic intergrated ignition has the delay to help the motor turn over 2 times before it goes to ignition on -- what one do you have ??????
