Cajun as stated it is left handed thread. I never used a specialty tool (socket); just lock the gears into anything but neutral and use a cold chisel and hammer. Put it back on the same way. In all my years I have never had one back off or loosen.
Probably not as pretty since it dings the nut, but it was shown to me by an HD mechanic in the 70s when I was was first learning seriously about my pan
Got it off with a small cold chisel and a little heat from a propane torch. Couple mild wacks and it was off. The nut has a seal inside of it. I want to replace the seal just in case but cant find it in any catalogue. Anyone know who makes them?
Didn't find it in there anymore but here is an example from another supplier. THE SUPER NUT FOR BIG TWIN TRANSMISSION SPROCKET
Stops sealing problems of the 4 Speed transmission out-put shaft, at a very affordable price. It helps avoid transmission oil leakage as a result of main drive gear bushing wear. Fits 1936 thru 1964 (open and closed primary), 1965 thru 1969 (open primary) and 1970 to present without any modification. (Present 4 Spd maybe to '82?)
Also the spaghetti seal is an O-ring and the gland between the inner primary and the case will compress the O-Ring and seal as necessary. Some try to add silicone as a precaution and if you use too much..... it will ooz out all over your project and if you use your finger, it will smear into the porous metal. I do not do this however some do, but if I did, I would wait for the silicone to cure before pulling the excess material away with my fingernail.
I had one of those nuts with the oil seal. So I ordered a replacemnet oils sela from JP cycles... and it was different. I think beacause of different manufacturers of the nut.
I found a Honda oil seal with the right size for mu super nut
I got my wrench from V-twin 16-0114. Works good, I had an older factory version but it was made for the shorter mainshaft on Pans and knuckles. It keeps you from scaring up the nut with a chisel. It also allows you to torque the nut properly.
