Just got togeather my 68 flh. Nothing more than a cleanup and new nuts and bolts. Had the heads off for a check and paint. Also added a s&s 'e'. Jetting is right and started right off. Adjusted carb. and smoothed right out. After warm up started missing and coughing. Now when start up sounds like it's running on one cly. Going to check batt. today, but was bought new before teardown.I also checked the manifold, no leaks. Any ideals will be much help!?!?
check your ignition,,,,,,,electronic ignitions are bad about going out.....If you run points and good for you if you do then clean them or change them,,,,also check and service your weights and springs.....I've had this same thing happen and it was the ignition.....that's where I would start......good luck
Ignition condenser can do that. So can the points if they have oil on them or the adjustment slipped. Another thing to check is the intake manifold seals.
