Got the motor apart and crank bearings and thrust washer shot. Just rebuilt the motor for the same problem. I took the pressure sender off while cylinders are off and attached length of hose with oil in it and added air pressure and the lifters are getting oil but no oil to crank. With cone off did the same to pinion and got oil to the crankshaft. Any ideas.
Thanks,
Dave
Did the previous owner replace the cone cover with a pre 73 model. They were side oilers and the post 73 models were end oilers. Put the wrong cover on and no oil to the crank.
81 has an early and late pinion with different timing on the key to oil hole location - the early goes back to 73 the late into evo to around 87 when they casted the pinion into the flywheels
They had a older pinion shaft in the flywheel with an older cone cover. Going to replace both with end oiler type. The flywheels are the newer style.
Thanks,
Dave
