Default Riding Boots

I have a pair of Alpine Star Gortex Riding boots that I really like, but I'm looking for a riding boot with a thicker sole that is comfortable and well made. The Ultra is heavier than my R1200 RT was and the smooth sole on the Alpine Stars feels slippery on surfaces that are not clean. I'd like a boot with a sole with a nice grip.
Any suggestions of riding boots that you would recommend would be appreciated.

They're not specifically riding boots, but my favorites are these:

They're red wings, very comfortable and I've never had trouble with slipping.

I have a pair of Redwings similar to the previous posters. They have a good grip but I like the Vibram sole on my HD Lynx better. It is the same boot as the Bates Escalante. It is waterproof, which works well, but it doesn't breathe well on hot days. And they're made in China.
I think I will get these next time:

It doesn't look like they are made in USA, but a lot of their other shoes are.

Most work boots. I use Georgia boots right now. But I got my eyes on a pair of Danners next.

I wear these Red Wing 988's. I love them but took a while to break in.

Most any boot with a vibram sole will give you a good grip on both dry and wet pavement. I recently got a pair of Chippewa engineer boots and they are very good. For long trips where I will encounter all kinds of weather and road conditions I wear Sidi Adventure Rain boots. Maximum protection for shins, feet, ankles and heels and surprisingly comfortable.

Sidi Canyon Goretex. All-day comfortable on and off the bike, good lug sole with plenty grip, not too sports- or addventure-bike in looks. Best bike-specific boots I've had.

IMHO, boots that require "breaking in" are ultimately a better choice all around than plastic foam soled boots which are at their feel good best during their first hour out of the box.

I like my Danner tactical gtx I think they are, for the summer only....they are not the warmest for winter riding...I have re soled my HD storm boots that are 8 years old....they are goretex water resistant.
