I have been messing with my Stock exhaust (tommy gun style) and SE slip ons for a while now.
First took out the slipon baffle (very easy to do) and removed the packing. Not loud enough for me. Then drilled more holes in the baffle. (there is already 5-6 rows, and i added 5 more.) Still not a nice sound. Cut the baffle in half. (sounded very tinny.) Took off the head pipe and cut out the cat and welded back on. (Just had a local muffler shop do it for $50). Was real loud and tinny. Added the lolly pops to the cut baffle. Sounded loud, tinny but a nice rumble. Had the baffles that I cut in half re welded together (another $50 at the muffler shop). Removed the lolly pops. So with the cat gutted, packing removed on slipons, it sounds great.....For now anyway. LOL Running out of options with this setup.

I run the same setup. How long has the system been on? I notice the sound of my slips on has changed over time. Maybe it's just me, loudness could be a bit louder but the sounds isn't too bad. It's not a deep growl but it's not also that abnoxious big radius vance and hines high pitch. I'm actually quite happy. Maybe give it a few more miles?

Here's what the stock pipes sound like with the baffles removed and TTI's installed.

The pipes have maybe 1200 mi on them. They aren't the worst sounding, would just like a little more noise.

For people that have modified them - I took the two screws out of the end of the muffler but can't get the end cap to move. It would appear the cat is welded in there, so I'm guessing you can't get the baffle out without major modifying?

I googled it and can't seem to find my exact pipe how to anywhere.

Maybe I'm confused - the guys that have removed baffles from the SE slip ons (not stock pipes) - did the cat come out with the baffle as one piece or is the cat in there differently?

I'm thinking if I take the screws off the end cap, take the slip on off and use a rod or stick and bang it out (assuming the cat and baffle are one piece) I'll try the TTI's or something similar.

Ok I got an update. Took the mufflers off, removed the screws at the tail
Pipe end. Used a pipe and banged the baffle out from the header side. To my surprise, the baffle was not very exotic at all, and the cat is completely enclosed in the baffle insert. That's all then wrapped in packing. So, since the wife wants a little more growl and not obnoxious loud, I just removed the packing and drilled two 3/8" holes on the baffle near the part that's bent in like an organ pipe. Left the cat alone. Just trying to do smaller, reversible if needed, changes.

I happened to throw my back out earlier so I can't ride, but just at idle she sounds a little less bottled up. She had such an odd sound when you really get into it - just reminded me of an old Honda 350 I restored.

Sn95bullit - I wasn't brave enough to try that yet.

I'm assuming you took the packing out too? Did you do every in one shot or did you make one change and test then make another?

Hard to tell from video, but my bike sounds a little deeper than yours (my cat is in) but phone video can only do so much.

How do you like it without the cat? Any tuning needed beyond typical stage 1 tune?
