Don't mean to hijack, just wanted to share my experience with the viking bags. I have different version of viking bags on my metric that have had heavy use for 3 years now. One of the bags the stitching is now starting to fail on the lid. No doubt due to over stuffing them all the time. (One of the reasons why I bought the Glide, LOL). And also one of the lock mechanisms is a little flaky at times (plastic). And on that note there is no support from viking as to replacing the lock mechanism, or even ability to get replacement keys. These are the locks built into the strap connectors, not a latch on the lid. But for the $200 I paid for the set I can't complain too much. I am still using them but am looking to replace next year.

I had my eye on the same exact viking ones you referenced for the heritage, wanting something bigger that what I have now. I also found a good deal on some ebay leather bags from Russia I may take a chance on for $160 and $50 shipping. Look decent enough in the pics and for the price can't really complain either. Lotsa options for sure.

Or even these? But only a little over 7" wide.

Next time don't be afraid to lubricate the grommets with a bit of dish soap or Armor-All. Do that, and they'll slip right into place.

Very nice indeed! Problem is the ones I like are only $890. Way out of my budget!

If you want quality you have to pay for it.

Just a quick update. I can't believe how much the floorboard vibration has been virtually eliminated by simply putting on new rubber inserts even though the originals didn't look bad. I guess over time the rubber loses its vibration absorbing properties.

I had the same problem as the O.P. I scuffed up the ABS then added a large fender washer to cover up the missing piece. Then I used a two part epoxy to bond the washer to the ABS. It held up nicely for about 8 months at which time I swapped them out for newer bags I got on the cheap off CL.
