Having a high peak # is always a good thing, but its even better when you can have "high" numbers when you want or need them. The new M8 is somewhat remarkable for a factory engine. Here's the comparison that really matters in the saddle taking the charts for the 4 stock engines:
As stock bikes, the 107 will "smoke" any of the older stock bikes from a start and pull away from any of them on the highway when passing. That flat tabletop Tq curve is what you feel. And my guess is that once Jamie gets done tuning even the stock map you're going to be looking at an even greater performance difference with the 103 & 96 engines.
Add a strong 2:1 pipe, and larger TB and injectors and my guess is these new engines will be shocking all of us down the road.
Yup. Dont think any of these new bikes are going to put me in the dust yet.
No word on the 117" though.
No doubt that any upgraded engine of similar displacement will leave a stock 107 behind, but I think we all have a terrific new platform for building more powerful bikes than any any Harley before. And that's a good thing.
My plan is to start with a 114 and build it stronger than my 110 but I'm looking forward to starting with what looks like a pretty stout 114 base engine.

Jamie, a few basic questions:
- Any insight on the O2 sensors? I assume they are still Narrow-band???
- Will the original PV-1 with an upgraded 6pin cable be compatible with the M8 ECU?
- Any timing for dyno testing the 114??
Same 12mm nbO2 sensor as current models. Yes you can use a PV-1 on all 2017 applications, you will need the PV-2 data cable and a tune license. We have a 2017 CVO 114" bike lined up and we will move forward once we get thru our 107" testing & product development.
If I am not mistaken, you will need a PV-2. The PV-2 is for canbus systems, 2014 and above, and the PV-1 is for pre-canbus.
PV-1 and PV-2 are actually the same base unit, the only difference is the cable and firmware. You can use a PV-1 on the 2017 bikes, just need to run the PV Update Client, get a PV-2 cable and a tune license.

The tq curve is impressive for a stock Harley. Lots of potential in the M8. I'm looking at a RK M8 to add to my garage.
