Saddlemen Step-Up seat review!
My buddy ordered one of the first new Saddlemen Step-Up seats, so when I told him about my seating search woes, he was like "BRO just get the Saddlemen! You will not regret it!" (He's French and very aggressive). So, I gave the guys at Saddlemen a call, stalked their Instagram pics for about three days, and finally pulled the trigger.
For those of you considering LD's or a BMC seat, take a look at the Saddlemen Step-Up. It's got a more understated look than the competition, but still maintains that trendy, distinctive "wall" of back support.
Verdict - This seat kicks @ss while aggressively cradling mine. The gel seems like it may take a bit of getting used to, but I think it's probably going to make the best sense in the long-run as it breaks in and as I take longer trips on the Medusa. Under hard acceleration, I feel locked into the bike and don't feel that uncomfortable pull on my wrists anymore. The quality is obvious and dealing with Russel & Alex at Saddlemen direct was a top-notch experience.
It's still a little on the 'poofy' side, but not so much that I won't get used to the look. By that I mean - this is not a 'low-profile' seat, it's a purpose-built seat. I will happily sacrifice the bare bones look for the performance and comfort a seat like this offers. Seating position wise, I'd say it moves you forward maybe 1/2inch from stock.
I got the black on black tuck and roll (on the standard TR), but they have tons of stitching and customization options. Again, the dudes at Saddlemen couldn't be more pleasant to work with, so give them a call!
Ok enough gushing...here are the pics. 10/10 would recommend!
