I love riding AZ and the 4 Corners area-
Southern Utah has wonderful riding and scenery at Monument Valley, and moving through Mexican Hat and towards Natural Bridges Monument which is where I took this pic of my Pal:
Been thru there a couple of times. Beautiful. Ridden up and down the Moki Dugway. The views are incredible. You can stop near the top and lookout over the Valley of the Gods and take the dirt Road to Muley Point Overlook and see Monument Valley and the Goose Necks of the San Juan River.
Yeah, my favorite area to ride. Been out to AZ and southern utah 3 times over the Last 10 years on the bike. Best scenery, great roads and not a lot of cars.
We've rode through there 3 times on bikes and once by convertible and it's still one of my wife's favorite rides!
We had a chance in September, '07 to go later in the season, which was much cooler (real cool in the higher elevations) and it was better (IMO) than "roasting" during the summer months.
We trailered to Clovis, NM and then made a 2,000 mile "loop" up through Albuquerque then on to CO, UT (Canyonlands), AZ and then back through NM via Carlsbad Caverns and back to Clovis.
Yeah, riding the Southwest when it isn't too hot is the best!
Don't forget the Million Dollar Highway (Durango-Silverton-Ouray-Telluride-Mancos loop) or the Silver Thread (Durango-Silverton-Ouray-Montrose-Lake City-South Fork-Pagosa).
Or Sedona and Oak Creek, or Yarnell-Wilhoit-Prescott-Jerome.
