I've used EasyOff on chrome for years, never had a problem -- but learned long ago to never let it touch paint!

I have used Easy Off with good success removing Frogg Toggs. It did drip a small amount near my floorboard and grayed a pencil size spot in the crinkle black.

To the OP - I know a lot of people are very proud of themsleves for never purchasing HD products, but get yourself a bottle of this:

It's available at every Harley dealership, and it will only set you back about $9. That bottle will last you for several years. All you have to do is shake it well, and apply it to the melted-on crap. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, and then rub it off. It may take a second application, depending on how much gunk is on there.

It will NOT damage your pipes! Even if you apply it, forget about it, and then leave town for 3 days, when you get back, your chrome will still be intact. There's a lot to be said for using the right tool for the right job!

I didn't read all 4 pages but Easy Off will take off boot marks. But, it WILL leave stains on your bike. I will never trust that crap near my bike, ever again...

Yeah, that wasn't good. Over the last 30+ years I've used Easy-Off to remove boot marks, rain pants rubs, wind blown plastic bags and a six-pack can holder. Never had a problem, but then I never left it on there - always washed it off! Good luck with your problem. Hope things work out for ya.

Default Easy off

No problems using Easy Off on Sampson pipes to get melted boot off. Chrome still looks great

That sucks man. Sorry about your pipes.

I scratched the pipes on my sportster once using a copper penny as has been suggested many times.

On my new bike, some monkey got some red fluid of some kind on the pipes when doing some motor work. I did not notice until I got home and it was burned onto the pipe. I was pretty pissed. I went ahead and tried 0000 wool lubed up liberally with Goo Gone. I tried it in an out of the way place under the pipes first to see if it would scratch. It did not, so I went ahead and took off all the offending burned on spots. It worked great.

Whatever you try, try it under the pipes or someplace first to test it and see if it's going to screw up your pipes. I learned the hard way the first time.

The HD Boot Mark remover works great for boot marks by the way. I keep a bottle handy for when the wife doesn't pay attention and puts her heal on the pipes. It does not work for anything tougher in my experience.

It's worked great for me - I've removed melted, burned-out rainsuit material a LOT.

Well I guess this is one of those lessons learned the hard way. I tried some 0000 steel wool with mother's chrome polish on it earlier and it didn't touch it. I'm pretty sure at this point that it actual pitted the pipe. Brand F$CKING new pipes!!!! God I'm pissed!!!
