Default Evo Dyna +4 tubes

Ok. I just messed up a bushing so I had to order a new one, but the one side is almost done. Added +4 tubes for my winter project. The brakes have been flushed front and rear, just need to top off the rear and install the front when its back together. I will keep this updated with pictures as I go.

Any advise from those who have done this before? Any pictures would also be cool from back in the day for inspiration. So post some of you have them and thanks for checking this thread out.

Finally got them on. Brake line is too short as is the kickstand. Carb should be fine it's pretty level. For anyone wondering the stock length of a 1996 superglide 39mm tubes are 24-1/8 inches. These are 28-1/8.

Also noticed my front wheel bearings are shot in the front. What bearings does a thunderstar wheel use? Is it an 2000-2003 style 3/4 axle with sealed bearings? Or the earlier tapered style?

You can try these. For a 2002 Dyna.

You could get a thunderstar wheel with either bering.
It depends on which wheel was ordered from the dealership.

Just look at the wheel and it's pretty easy to tell which ones it uses.

When we did this in the 70's the front end would tend to flop on lower speed maneuvers. Geometry and tube lengths probably make a difference but be aware you may notice it. I had a Triumph that would tend to flop and be squirrely on dirt and gravel especially in low speed turns.

That particular Thunderstar has Tapered roller bearings...

And I'm not just saying that because you have a 96

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty excited to see how it rides. I'll pull the wheel just to be sure. When I bought the bike in 2009 or 2010 the p.o. gave me a parts catalog from 09. So I'm not sure if he ordered the wheels then or Mabye they were original.

I was nervous I went too high, but +4 on a stock rake seems to be ok.

They ended up being tapered bearings. Going to put the new bearings in tomorrow. Installed the new brake line as well, had to go with a 46" line. After the exhaust is back together it's finally ready to ride.

Thanks again everyone. I will have pictures and a ride report soon.

Finished the front end. Pads were hanging up on the caliper so I pulled it apart and cleaned it.

And good thing the kickstand was down huh?
