If his bike didn't have CANBUS that thread would help a bunch, but being his is a '14 WITH CANBUS that thread is useless.

That's right WG, totally different wiring. I don't know when Harley introduced CANBUS, but it's definitely on the 14 Dyna's and above.

For the next person with this issue, there are, IMHO, 2 options here.

1st option, you can buy the connector that WG linked to here: https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...on-upgrade-kit , this is what I did. This connector gives you 3 pigtails, 1 is ground, 2 is ACC power and 3 is battery power. The connector is $17 bucks, not too bad.

Option 2, which I would have done had I known what I know now. You can VERY easily splice into the wires leading to the diagnostic connector for the ACC and BATT power. The red with yellow wire is the ACC power, the red is the BATT power and the black is the ground, next time around for me I will simply splice into that harness. Splicing in here will not cause any issues with resistance since this is where your ACC power is meant to plug into.

Hope this helps someone!

Eddie

Ah yes correct looks like the Canbus kicked in in 2012 because the upgrade kit fits from that year onwards.

I am not sure if the 14' has the same four pin style connector going to the headlamp or not. I know on my 10', this four pin connector had 4 wires on the frame side and only 3 on the bucket side. On the bucket side there is the high, low and ground wire and on the frame side the fourth wire is an orange w/ white stripe (accessory wire). I have wanted to pull the schematic up on this wire to see where it goes and see if it's a usable power source.

I bought a fuse tie in jumper from an auto parts store and plugged it into the accessory fuse and then added an extra fuse to the jumper harness and wired my amp to that for key on power. My bike is an 02 so that may not help but if the accessory fuse is in the fuse box and you're going from a fuse for power you shouldn't disturb anything on that side of the canbus. I wouldn't think you would anyways.

I used that same connector when I installed my fairing and power my radio, but I took it apart and used new pins and wires to make it so my fairing could easily be removed. It was cheaper to buy this and have a male/female connecter then it was to buy the pieces to built the connecter.

Anyways, the connector you suggested is good, but isn't putting the power where the OP was looking to get power from, which ai believe was up by the neck at the ignition (unless it has been moved). The plug I was referring to is right there where the headlamp connector is stuffed in the neck.

in the second pic you can see the 4 wires from the main harness. The first pic show the headlamp harness. On my bike, the orange/white wire isn't on this side. One could easily pin a wire and use this as an accessory power point.....I would think. Even though the 14' is canbus, i would imagine the harness at the bucket is the same because the headlamps are the same for both years.
