Oh, one other thing, looks like I'll be removing the intake manifold prior to paint. I thought about painting it black too, but I'm worried about the rubber seal seating properly between the manifold and the carb. Plus the silver accent will look good.
Starting to prep for paint. This is going to take me forever... no question. I've scuffed up the metal on one side(which I'm not sure I need to) and then I'll use pre-paint and tack cloths to clean it up. Really trying to make it look good and factory... well as factory as I can. I'm also going to be replacing all of the bolts and painting under them as I swap them out.. Frankly they're all beat up and nasty so I might as well get new ones. @$40 I figure it'll be worth it to not have a bunch of them rusting. Anyway some early pics...
I'm hurtin thinkin about the tedious nature of the paint you'll be doin. Are you trying to black out the entire engine without takin it all off?
Alright, this is going to be pic HEAVY, but painting is done. I'm going to let it cure overnight and tomorrow remove the tape and what not. @BlackBettyXLC it was a TON of work. Pics below with some description:
Continuing to mask:
Off-side. You can see the head I've scuffed up and the one I haven't. The right one looks pretty nasty compared to the left:

I tried to scuff up the derby cover and make it look uniform. I think it looks pretty good.
All masked up, also, scope my paint booth. So sick!
Couple more pics. I took off my oil cover and painted it the same as the engine. It had some pretty hefty nicks in it and the paint was pretty scratched up. Figure this will hold up a little better.
Nash Pudgy Gimps just showed up. Only went 12" since I liked the height on other bikes. Not sure what size of cabling I'm going to need quite yet. Have to see once I get everything together. Probably will do +4 just to be safe. Also allows for a little bit of upgrade for the next owner if they want to get a little more height.
