The S&S EZ starts are something else now... I watched the video of how they work a couple weeks ago... That is a trick with a hole in it for sure... Dem sum smart fellas.

I did do all the work by myself, without anyone here. I read the manual section a couple times, put the book down and got after it. In three hours it was on the floor (not broken or dinged up). I can't say I'd want to do it once a month, but it isn't a hateful job. I am a rider who's forced into doing mechanical work; some of which has been done at the side of the road, if you call the Dalton Highway a "highway".
I do the same thing cept the hoist cam from Kragen and I use a triangle plate attached to the breather holes.. Motor hangs at almost exactly the same angle as the bike on it's side stand..

FWIW the Japanese dirtbikes been doing the same thing for longer than SnS.. SnS does do it without springs tho which is kinda neat. IIRC

It did tilt on me and I almost sh*t a brick I would have felt really foolish if it would have fallen when I took the pics; I was by myself.

So I assume you are doing work to the crank hence the engine coming out?

But you're smarter than me

Yes, the bottom end is coming out. I'm giving it to Kirby this weekend at the races in Bowling Green KY. It will have an S&S crank and Timken bearing conversion at it's heart. I'm still torn between 103 and 107. Honestly, I thought it was ok at 96" (until it started using oil) so a 103 will be an improvement. What I don't want is more power than a stock clutch can handle. The last thing I want is a stiffer clutch and I sure don't want to start chasing problem$ downstream as far as making the drive line more robust.

All I want is another 90k + miles and then be able to do pistons, cylinders and maybe clean up the heads and throw it back together, all while the bottom end stays in the frame.

"A friend came by as I was finishing up pulling the engine and asked what I was doing. I told him I was changing the oil and wanted to get it all out; his jaw dropped to the floor"

Hopefully Kirby will be doing the heads and adding a cam..

Yes, I'm buying all the talent I can afford

S&S 583 EZ starts/poss gear drive
Head work

107 is still a possibility but the aforementioned issues are deal breakers for me.
