Magnelli Marelli tps on my new to me 02 rd king please help!!!
Hi I am halfway through my first year with my first Harley I absolutely love it and don't know why I got one first. Bought 02 road king this spring that had an Arlen ness Air cleaner and Rinehart true dual exhaust 60,000 miles I got all the maintenance records and I thought it was a good deal the bike always had the acceleration pop there is no tuner on it but I figured it was flashed because it wasn't that bad. First thing I did was about the factory service manual and it all my fluids shock pressure etc. I've been learning from this site and finally started to do a little investigating behind the air cleaner what I believe is the throttle position sensor I found a Magnelli Marelli symbol on the TPS Problem is there's an actual air gap around the sensor to the throttlebody I cannot believe this is normal I also thought Magnelli Marelli was discontinued on broad Kings after 2001 one of the reasons I bought this bike was 2002 was first year of the Delphi fi last year of the Timken crank now I'm worried about all this era I haven't sucked up can anyone tell me what these people did or why my bike is like this I have attached a picture please help thank you in advance

Make sure what you are doing with it and you will find it to be a good system. Basically like a computer controlled carb with out a float. Lot more control then FI of today. It does not need a tuner.
More info so I looked closer at the book and realized there is a gap but it does not go into the intake I am still confused why there is a m&m TPS on My O2 Rd., King was that standard issue with the Delta use your injection or does my bike have
You

so I looked further and found that in the book there is a gap around the TPs I am still confused and the M & M tps on my 02 road king was that standard issue with the Delphi fi ? Or was it replaced at some point
? Thank you in advance

Would you please elaborate on your statement that it does not need a tuner. I'm not questioning your knowledge of this system, just trying to learn more about the MM system. TIA. Roy
Call your local Harley Dealers Service Department and ask them to run your vin. They can tell you if your ECM has been flashed by any dealer. That being said pretty much all EFI systems will benefit form a good tuner.
