Default New lifters with aftermarket cam or keep the stockers?
Hey folks,

For those that have put a new cam in did you swap lifters or are you keeping the stock ones in place? I’m on the fence about them.

For what it's worth I've spoken with two very reputable indy shops and both say put new lifters in and also put the newest version of the oil pump in, even if you have no problems with the current. I have no clue but they seem very knowledgeable.

Having already experienced lifter failure with my stage 2 M8, I seriously recommend installing good aftermarket lifters while you're in there. Attached links are what I'd recommend.

What happened you got any pics of them , why did they fail ?

Thank you all, I appreciate the info. For the little extra cost I’m gonna swap the lifters, makes sense since I’ll be in the cam chest already.

I’m gonna tackle this job myself

My stock lifters with 5k started to fail scoring the stock cam... Frankly, the stock SUCK.

Always replace the stock lifters. Always! Pic is my Twin Cam oil pump gerotor damaged by a needle bearing from a failed lifter. Wasn't cheap.
