This is a really clear example of something not many know. The two screws on the back each have a "dimple" marked into the face. This indicates a Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) Screw.
These are cut differently than a traditional Phillips. Originally, traditional Phillips headsl were designed to "release" a bit before twisting the screw shaft and breaking. This was a common problem in the early days of industrial tools used in assembly. This is why these style heads will walk out a screwdriver easily even today.
JIS style heads are cut differently and really grab a screwdriver. You can buy JIS screwdriver sets, I have one for carburetor work.
That's some cool info on the screw heads. In 07 I bought a wrecked 94 Sportster for a Project Build for my Wife. Had the same speedo on it (the Fat Bob conversion tank & dash mounted speedo.) I would say get the 2:1 ratio replacement. Look up Sporty Parts online. Give em a call, 800-701-2925. Kirk can get you the right speedo for you bike.
