Default Shave weight off Street Glide? New ST!?!

So I'm really digging the new Harley ST models. I love the fact that they already shaved some weight off. Looks like they got the Street Glide ST down to 814. But that's still heavy.

What else can be done without drastic modification to shave more weight? I'm thinking the exhaust. The stock exhaust is pretty heavy and we change it out anyway. So going to a smaller single pipe style should save about what 20 pounds?? Anyone know? Then maybe the battery? Go with a light weight lithium and shave off what maybe another 20 pounds? Just those 2 modifications alone should drop about 40lbs off right? That would get it to around 774 pounds give or take.

What other simple mods can be done to save weight? I was thinking about getting the new Low Rider ST but I do know the new Softails can be a little cramped. Plus I hate wrinkle black. I also don't like that you have to pay $1k extra for the stereo and it's a Bluetooth set up. Not really digging the handle bar clamp digital speedo either. That total messes up a bar job.

So what other ideas can we come up with to make the Street Glide ST even lighter? I may go this route!!🤔

744 isn`t exactly "light" IF you can get there
Many H-D riders could benefit from the zero cost mod of fewer meals ..

Unless you plan on racing that bike, I fail to see any reason to be so pound conscious. As soon as you get rolling, the feel of most of that weight goes away, anyhow. It never ceases to amaze me just how well a heavyweight bike like a Harley can handle, But, you do you.

I agree once rolling they handle fine. It's when the Touring bikes aren't rolling is the issue. I have back problems , knee problem and stuff that makes it a chore to jokey heavier bikes around in and out of my garage and other tight places like parking lots. Especially dealing with my steep gravel driveway that leads into the garage. So the lighter the better for me.

Regardless of the reason performance baggers are all about weight reduction. That's the main goal. Weight reduction, performance and handling. That's the fun of it and goal at least.

The lithium battery is wayyy lighter. My buddy had 2 in less than a year. They just didn't hold up to the extra **** he added but the regular battery did

I have a 09 street glide. Wheels can be a huge weight loss. I lost 9lbs on front and 12 on rear by going to carbon fiber. one pound of rotational mass is equal to about 5 stationary. I have an aluminum swing arm that dropped 20lbs. Went with a road glide front fairing and I dont run a radio. I also put an inverted front end that was a lot less weight than factory. Battery is lighter as well. 2-1 stainless exhaust. My bike is right over 600lbs. For me it wasn't a light bike for parking lot speeds. It is power to weight ratio. Old saying is 5lbs stationary is like adding a horsepower. Bike accelerates faster, brakes faster, and lighter to throw around in curves. Got to use tires rated for the bike, but high milage touring tires can be a very heavy compared to some performance tires on the market.

I know some baggers in the low 500's. Cutting out back bones and seat pans and replacing with chrome moly. Getting rid of two shocks for a mono shock design. Small tank aluminum fuel cells with carbon tank shells. Carbon fenders, saddle bags, and fairings. Some go airtech which isn't carbon but a very light.

HD caters to this demographic in form of a Trike, Weight is of no concern and it comes with reverse.
