Default DK Customs Cooling Deflector Wings

Posting to put this info out there.

I've been running Harley brand fork fangs on my '11 street glide. Didn't hate them because of how well they work to stop the wind buffeting, but I didn't love them because they just look okay. The bike looks better without. I found out about the DK deflector wings after I bought the fork fangs, so I didn't try them until recently.

I decided to try lower fairings, then started thinking about engine heat. Found some lower fairings on Facebook marketplace and installed the DK deflector wings since I felt the fangs with the lowers would block way too much air, if they're even compatible. The wind buffeting was manageable with deflector wings and lowers. I wear a full face helmet and had to ride with the visor down at highway speed (50+). Not too bad. I could live with that setup.

Decided I don't care for the lower fairings. I need to ride with the vents open all the time anyways to keep the motor cool, so they're not blocking any wind off my legs to speak of, and my highway pegs and where I like to run them didn't work.

SO, I took the lower fairings off and went for a ride with only the DK Cooling Deflector Wings. HOLY CRAP. To finish off this long story, all I have to say is they work 95%, maybe 100% as good as the fork fangs for stopping the wind buffeting (for me). I feel like I'm getting a little more wind on my body, but no buffeting, and that's all that matters. I was able to ride with my visor up at 70 mph just like I can with the fork fangs. I'm also happy that they're directing more wind to the motor. These wings work better for me without the lower fairings.

Replacing fork fangs for DK Cooling Deflector Wings >> worth it.

Glad you had good luck with them. When I had my 2010 Ultra Classi buffeting wasn't too bad and with the fork fangs it was gone all together.

When I got my 2023 Ultra Limited the buffeting was absolutely terrible. I added the DK Customes Cooling Deflector Wings and they do help, but there is still a little buffeting. From what I have seen and others have reported the Rushmore design just has more buffeting for some reason. I couldn't keep my fork fangs because the turn signals interfere with them, but I'm almost thinking of trying to find some aftermarket ones but not sure yet. I suspect if I didn't have lowers the buffeting wouldn't be too bad, but my bike is twin cooled and I like having speakers in the lowers anyhow.

That's the groovy thing about Harley dressers, they are like Legos, you can turn them into about anything to suit your taste.
