Default Tour Pack Mount FLHTK

I am acquiring a 2010 Ultra Limited (FLHTK). I see that Hog Worx makes a quick detach mount and I can find the HD ones (PN 54205-09A) on eBay used for a decent price. What I can't find is the mount for the actual tour pack. All the ones I can find do not fit an Ultra Classic or Limited. Can someone point me to one please? Also to a license plate relocation piece? I ride solo the majority of time and I want to remove the tour pack. I already have a quick detach sissy bar and pad that will fit the docking hardware.

The Pre Rushmore bikes are a bit more of a pain initially to set up with a quick disconnect system.... because of the way the speakers unplugs on those bikes and then there's the passengers headset jack that you will have to figure out where to put it when the tour pack is off... Also, on the Pre-Rushmores you may have to find some new strut covers for the dock to mount on/thru, so you have the third hole needed for the dock's bolts. Somewhere on here there's a thread on all that from several years ago. I have had to find 4 set of those strut covers (chrome) for older bikes we were converting them to quick disconnect, and always had good luck finding them on eBay, for price and condition. Check your current strut covers and see if they have that third hole or not....
We did a couple 2011's of my brother using something like this for the tag, along with a lit tag frame, and wired it into the tail lights for power.

For a pre-2014 you will need a tour pack mount like this
https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...ck/p/53276-09B

It doesn't show that its for your bike because you have to do stuff to make it for your bike... take off the current rigid mount, probably change the strut covers, relocate the tag, figure out how to disconnect the audio/lighting, antennas, etc...

Thank-you for the info. I will start hunting up the stuff to do it.

Just an FYI, you can use either of the 2013 and earlier OR 2014 and later tourpak racks for your quick detach mount. You may have to redrill the holes on the tourpak for the newer rack, but the old holes are easy to plug.

I have a 2014+ chopped tourpak with the 2014+ tourpak rack on my 2013 Road King.

I would get the rack that matches whatever version of tour pack I working with, even though mixing them "will work", they are shaped and sit different.... but either will fit on the actual docking points, as those are in the same place on both versions of the docks.

I plan on buying the one for my year bike. I believe the tour pack on the Limited and Classic are the same. Except the Limited has speakers and antennas.

Tour pack mounting bracket would be the same for either.
On my brother's 2011 we did not cut anything, and everything could easily be hooked back up, not as easy as the Rushmore's and after, but still pretty easy a step at a time. Since then I've done 3 other similar bikes. On his we unplugged the speakers in each of the pods (marked them for easy identification)... not really convenient, but easy enough to do. A person could put a connector in line somewhere, like under the seat, if they wanted to take the time to make it easier. His had some kind of tour pack light mod (think it made run lights blinkers also??), so we unplugged the lights under the seat at that module. The passenger headset jack we just took it out of its spring loaded holder/bracket and was able to coil it and stuck it under the seat, with the rigid tube part of it going down in front of the battery. FM Antenna was changed to a hidden one in the fairing, I don't remember if it had a CB or not. Then took the tour pack off.

We used a different brand tag mount than I posted above, but it was just like the one above... the two mounting holes were a bit of a pain to get lined up with the holes for the blinker bar's holes, and then get the bolts thru, but it worked fine once that was done. Just catch enough threads on each to hold, until you get both started. Then a CD lit tag frame for the tag bracket, that I wired in to the brake/tail light base, and joined the two wires in there into the fender tip light connector for power. I also changed out the brake light lens to a Road King one without a clear tag window... my OCD hated the clear window on top, with the tag under the light...

On all four of the 2010-2012 bikes I had to order new strut covers because they didn't have the third hole. I was aware of it and I had checked the bikes before hand and had ordered them, so that I had the parts sitting here. You could just drill a hole, but then you're going to have to make a stand off to slide in the hole, to keep that bolt from sucking the dock down too far when you tighten it... the correct strut covers are easy to find, and there's cheaper knock offs of those too.

Your bike uses the dock with 3 bolts on each side (Rushmore's are the 2 bolt ones), and mount on the outside of the struts. He bought Amazon knock offs for the dock and tour pack bracket. After you get the dock installed, and before you put the bracket on the tour pack, test fit the tour pack's bracket on the dock... it's a lot easier to do that without the tour pack on it and in the way my experience has been that they may need to be spread open a little, or the dock's bushing may need to be rotated a little... whatever. Get the mounting bracket where it sits and locks in place smoothly, and locks snug. Thats a lot easier to do without the tour pack in the way, or lifting its 50+ pounds while trying to get it all lined up.

Only issue I can remember with any of the Amazon knock offs was with a dock. On the Pre-Rushmore's they mount on the outside of the strut covers, and then the bracket curves in and up over the strut covers a little. After we'd get done I would test fit all of the accessories I had for my 2016 on them, and they would fit on their docks also (tour packed, luggage rack, etc)... except an HD passenger backrest. On two of the bikes it would sit on the dock, but when I would rotate the cam locks, to lock it in place on the dock, the metal frame of the backrest, under the slot, would hit on the dock preventing the cam lock from rotating all the way locked. Apparently the radius of the curve on the dock was slightly off. Two of the four bike's docks (Amazon) had this issue, the other two did not (HD docks)... and it is a backrest that was made before 2014 also.... If it had been an issue on my bike, I could have taken a grinder to the backrest's frame, and cut off a little of the metal where it was hitting and all would have been fine... but I was just test fitting stuff... But I would just advise people to order the HD docks, and I like their bushings being adjustable too.

Thank-you for the detailed write up! I appreciate it. I am still debating doing this. I own another bike I am finishing the build on (shameless plug EVO Build ). It is my around town and back road ripping bike. The FLHTK will be used for touring with my daughter or GF so I may opt to just leave the tour pack on since it will be needed when touring. Again, thanks for the great write-up.

I hear you... I had three at one time, but felt bad that two just sat all the time, because I'd just take the Road Glide. So I made it three bikes, and it can be configured however in about 15 minutes. (it's easier/quicker on the 2014 and newer ones). The '16 and the '23 is pretty much the same (RGU -vs- RGL)... and got some garage space back.
90% of the time

Just about all of the rest of the time (2016 RGU, but looks the same on the 2023 RGL)

then occasionally like this (this is the 2023, probably the day I brought it home, before I added the quick disconnect)
