Been running mine for three years with no problems. It's a well made unit for one thing. I wouldn't purchase anything from Kuryakyn that important. Go to them for the cheap stuff like lens covers and crap like that.
Not much if any on a stock motor. Some sport bike riders claim 2 hp. VS helps to straighten the air flow but once you add a filter to it that sort of goes out the window.
Wow. Iridium spark plugs claim to add 2 hp or even 5. haha.
Oh well, the VS looks cool. Not my thing, but I can dig it.
I have 14k miles on my crossbones with no issues running the rsd nostalgia velocity stack. It is a heavy well made piece of equipment. I just took engine apart to install 107 kit and cylinders looked perfect. I know several other guys in Chicago that run them also with no issues. I would get the rain sock they make, but I wouldn't be worried about it.
Do you still have the bike? If so, can you post a photo?

...but if there ever IS an issue and you're forced to deal with PM/RSD customer service, you'll be SOL, cuz it's crap! Chrome started bubbling & flaking off my $600 RSD rocker box covers 2 weeks after installation. PM/RSD refused to replace them...basically telling me to **** off.
at the typical performance level of a stock or stage1 bike, it really doesn't matter a whole lot what you run for a less restrictive AC. The heads, valves and stuff are your more restrictive flow area. if you run without proper filtration you run the risk of ingesting dirt particles and scoring cylinder walls, bearings, journals etc. when you get into performance numbers of top builds then yes you have to take into consideration the affected airflow of VS designs.
Pretty funny - a VS for a hot rod is like $50 but for a Harley it's $400. ;p - but they do always look cool.
