Sorry to hear that. When I cut mine I left it on the bike. I used ajig saw with a 24 tooth blade that did not have waves in it like a metal blade normaly would. I used one hand to drive the saw and the other to hold the windshield. I only wish I had covered the bike from all the plastic dust! A quick shot with the air compressor and all was well again!
I cut 3.25 inches off the shield. I decided on this by putting blue painters tape on the shield where I thought I'd like the cut. I then moved the tape down as I rode until I no longer cared that it was there. That's where I cut!
You could try 2000 grit wet and dry sand paper then use Meguiars plastic polish. Worked pretty good on the headlights of my wifes Passat. I don't know if it will work but its worth a try.
I broke down and ordered the Menphis Shades 17" replacement from J&P. They had it in stock and was only $89 plus shipping. I could have lived with the scratches but the details drive me crazy.lol...[sm=outcold.gif]Now when I switch out the plastic do I need to get new gasket/rubber lining for the hardware or will it stay on the original hardware when i pull everything apart? Thanks!
