I found a NIB security system for my FB (part 41000021). Searching the forum I understand that I will have to go to the dealer to have it programmed for my bike and get the FOB paired.
Can I install it myself and ride the bike to the dealer to have it programmed or the bike will not work if not programmed??
I installed the hands free security system myself, married it to my bike, then took it to the dealer and paid them $38 to pair both key FOB's to the security system.
I pulled the lighting fuse to avoid draining the battery (you could also leave you charger attached) - the whole process takes just over 30 mins with the ignition on.

I followed the procedure and it did not work on my 2013. The security lamp does not come on...I guess I will have to go to the stealer to get it programmed.
