So I love my stock 2000 Heritage Classic....except the sound. I don't want loud just a bit louder than stock. Would swapping the mufflers out to Sceamin Eagles help? Also, would they require any change to the carb set up? Are the mufflers ez to swap out? thanks!
Sounds like it would b worth doing. How do u remove and install the mufflers? Never done it.
Just loosen the clamps and remove the bolts to the retaining bracket. You will need to spray penetrating oil all around the muffler to head pipe joint. Wear gloves so you can get a good grip and twist the mufflers back and forth while pulling. You will have to keep spraying the penetrating oil, pulling and twisting. Not hard at all but you might think they are never coming off. They will. Just keep at it. When I install new mufflers I put a light coat of high temp silicone on the inside of the muffler where it goes on the head pipe. Spread it around with my finger. Tighten clamps to 55 to 60 ft lbs. HD says the clamps are a one time use item but I have never had a problem reusing them.
