Footboard Extension Options for Earlier Softail Models
Hey everyone,
I'm a big guy, 6'4" 240. I put on Walters Workshop extended shift and brake levers already (love them), but looking for an option to extend footboards out and forward (without moving the shifter or brake)
I like the kuryakyn relocater brackets as well as the harley extended reach footboard pans (preferably both together) but can't seem to find anything that will fit pre 2000 softails. I have a 1996 FLSTN.
Any options? Or will these options fit and its just not listed on the site which sometimes happens. Anything helps thanks!
I relocated the floorboards on my 02 Fatboy. 1 inch forward and 3/4 inch out on each side. Makes a world of difference.
1. In the Harley accessory catalog, Touring section, are a set of floorboard pans that are advertized as one inch forward when mounted onto the floorboard brackets. This is accomplished due to the location of the braces that are welded on the underside of the floorboard pans. Although these boards are advertized in the Touring section, they also fit Softails. You could DIY this project by cutting the welds on the braces, relocate and re-weld them.
2. The company "VtwinGoodies" formally (Harley Goodies) makes floorboard extensions brackets for all years. Google them.
V twin goodies move the boards out to the side. ran them on my fatboy and was very happy. Kuryakyn makes a kit that moves them an inch forward and and inch out to the side as well. Those were on my bagger when i bought it and I like them too. http://www.vtwingoodies.com/
