Bikes stay home. Weather can change a chance for a good ride comes along I am going. Life has been good to us after many tears of finding a place to put them they now have a room of their own. I can visit any time work on hem if I want. Bikes stay home where they belong.

As much as I would like to keep my bike I my own garage, the cold makes me appreciate my car in my own garage. Dec 1 bike goes into climate controlled, video surveillance, security system storage with some upgrades planned

My dealer offered free winter storage after a inconvenience and kindly declined as I like knowing its there when I can sneak in a quick winter ride for that therapy.

I have multiple bikes and only one jack, which I like to keep available. Does anyone use a jack stand for long term storage? Any recommendations, assuming there is such a product. Or plans to fab?

Edit:
I was not thinking. I dont elevate my bikes for few winter months. Obviously, blocks of wood, such as landscape timbers, could be easily cut and placed under.

I feel your pain. I had my cam chain tensioner upgraded, so the dealer is storing it free.

I miss it, but I feel better when I remember how my bike was coated with a half inch of frost last year when it was -23F.

it is not the -23 degree cold, it is the temperature changes cause moisture to condense out on the bike. A cover will prevent that and keep the dust off. The problem for me is much worse in the spring than dead of winter. Why the cover works, I dont know, but it just does. The moisture forms on the cover and not under. Almost as if it was raining in the garage.

I also been told it is better to not run the bike all winter, than periodically warm it up or take it for occasional short rides. FWIW, I dont really know.

I remember Lakeshore being in Waukegan & Fisher's in downtown Elgin.

Just got to have peace of mind your bike's in good care/hands. Looking at in cold garage vs. getting out for a short-trip to a dealer...I take the dealer trip. Adds some extra time to your day and possible entertainment. Who knows...something might catch your eye at the dealer too.
