In Maine it's a no brainer..... failure to disclose is a crime and you would get ALL your money back!

If you keep it, buy all extended warrenty you can. A crash bad enough to damage most of the bike may have put stress on the parts they didn't change--and cause issues down the road.

Bike is a beauty!,Probably as good as new,but I think I should have been told upfront, before I made decision to buy. Thanks foreveryones thoughts,It's quite a shocker to find out about it this way.
You absolutely should have been told up front...

First thing to do is ask yourself: "Would I havebought thethingif I had known the history?"

If you can honestly answer "Yes", thendemanda detailed itemized list of what was done and what parts werereplaced. They should have an internal shop repair ticket on the work done, and you have a right to see it.

If you still want to keep it after knowing what was done, then maybe you can coax the stealership intoforkin' over somenice accessories on their nickle.

It's a downright sh*tty way for them to do business.. I'm not sure I'd be willing to let something like that go by without tanglin' a$$holes withthe seller. I have a real 'thang'about getting hoodwinked.

How can you do business with a dealer like that? I would never trust ANYTHING they said or did again.

I agree it's a downright sh*tty way for them to do business.
Ask for the repair sheet and talk to a lawyer.

I hate lawyers (almost as mush as I hate car sales managers)but pay for an office visit, they will listenand advise for not much money. A lot of the timesthe 1st visit is free.
If they do any actual work, then that's when they get a lot of the money.
Sometimes a phone call from them, will do it.

One of my best friends is a lawyer, so I don't hate them all.
But I do hate all insurance companies!!!!!!!!!! [sm=devilgrin.gif]

I'd demand my money back and or sue them for twice the out of pocket cost.

If you like the bike maybe you can push the dealer into throwing in the extended warranty or you'll raise a stink. Threaten to place an add in the motorcycle classifieds of the local paper. The dealer won't want bad publicity. Worked for me once. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hello to all.I just finshed rebuilding a salvage titled bike.Once the insurance company pays off the claim they stamp the original title salvage. When I registered it with my local dmv they process it as a rebuilt vehicle & last week when I got my title in the mail it says rebuilt on it.Sound like the dealer did the work without an insurence claim to get around this.If the bike got hurt, what happened to the rider? I would try to find the rider, find out who the insurance carrier was,& see if a salvage title was issued. If so the dealer did a no-no. If they did issue a salvage title then the dealer must have optained an original title.I would call my local dmv office on them. You should have had the chance of knowing about the damage befor you bought it.I hope the dealer at least included the extended warrenty.

I'm assuming what happened here is that 1) MoCo rental program is insured inhouse. 2) They don't "total" anything to stay away from rebuilt titles. The terms "totalled" "salvage" and "rebuilt" are insurance company terms that carry over to the DMV. "If" a motorcycle is never "officially" totalled by an insurance company there is no requirement for it to be titled or sold as such.
Unethical ... yes
Illegal ..... Depends on who has the best lawyers
