Not weird at all - I would order parts, but I am holding off simply because I'm not sure on the year of Deluxe I am going to get. Otherwise I know I will be getting Samson's (again)... I've been paying close attention to their 'recent' issues [And I say recent because it has been going on for nearly a year]. Although, I do like the look of the Buky Bars fishtails over the "longtail" style of fishtails from Samson. I cut my ankles open a lot on the longtails I had on the Night Train. I just wished that Samson offered a fishtail that was more straight cut like Buky Bars, that slid into the header similar to the longtail (So that everything is hidden under the heat shields) rather than the type that clamps onto the outside of the header - Buky Bars is the same way.

On the forum, not a secret at all. It's more of a bellybutton style when surfing the threads.. But here in MN there are sure not a lot of SoCal Cholo bikes running around - at least not from what I have seen. I'd like to keep it that way to stay different. That's why I built my Night Train the way I did. Everyone and their brother has a dang FXST, or stock FLST. Seems right now the rage around here is big wheel baggers (which is odd considering how $#!^^Y the roads are here).

The Deluxe looks great no matter what style they are made into.
Oh, there will be a 21" X 3.5" on the front. Wide whites.. I will probably get black rims/stainless or diamond cut spokes. Not sure on that yet.

I love my lil' bastard!

I have no doubt that the look is what I am going for. I sold my Night Train in the spring, and darn near had it converted to a Deluxe anyhow. Should have just bought the Deluxe in the first place. Live and ya learn. I actually was torn between a Deluxe and a Road King, but I don't really like the top-heavy feel of the King... And when I want to ride bagless, the Deluxe wins HANDS DOWN. No offense to a King owner, but... Without bags. I'd rather look away.

Well it looks like I have to have a conversation with my fiancee. Her and I both talked and thought I could pick up another bike in the spring.. But.. I just found a 2012 Deluxe, black, with 5600 miles for just under $11,000. This deal seems too good to pass up - almost too good to be true. I'll have to talk to her and see what she thinks. Already submitted a loan app to the bank and was pre-approved (of course). I know it is better to ask forgiveness than to beg permission.. But also, a happy wife is a happy life. Keep your fingers crossed!

DAMN!! Yep, that's a smokin' deal! I paid $12,500 for my '08 with 18K on it this past summer, and I felt like was doing OK!

Good luck - hope it works out. Looking forward to seeing some pics!

I agree. I hope that I hear back from the guy. I contacted him and he gave me an initial text message back, but haven't heard anything since. I have already talked to my bank and the fiancee.. Just waiting on this guy to get back to me. If he wants to sell it I will drive out cash in hand and pick it up probably Monday. It is part of an estate sale, so hopefully there is no legal hangups involved (such as the bike is still in probate, etc.). If all goes well, I will have a Deluxe in the garage next week. Easy as pie, I hope. Guess I better get my apes on order... Big question now is do I go with 16's or 18's? I had 18's on the Night Train and loved them... So probably 18's again.

Just got a call from the gal. Here is the story on the bike:

The owner passed away about a year ago, and the bike is part of an estate. Family wants nothing to do with the bike - they just want the cash. In order to purchase the bike, my bank would need to make the cashiers check out payable to the estate, and then the funds would then be used to pay off the lien that the credit union has on the motorcycle. Does anyone have any experience with estate purchases, etc.? Any advice? My father passed away on the 20th, but he had literally nothing to his estate except an old Pontiac Grand Am.

As far as asking for permission from my fiancee, it's not so much as asking permission. It is making the decision as a team - examining finances, allocating money, and discussing whether or not we want to do it. And she said yes, absolutely. It's just nice to be on the same team.

Stay tuned.. Hopefully all works out!
