Just got a call from the gal. Here is the story on the bike:
The owner passed away about a year ago, and the bike is part of an estate. Family wants nothing to do with the bike - they just want the cash. In order to purchase the bike, my bank would need to make the cashiers check out payable to the estate, and then the funds would then be used to pay off the lien that the credit union has on the motorcycle. Does anyone have any experience with estate purchases, etc.? Any advice? My father passed away on the 20th, but he had literally nothing to his estate except an old Pontiac Grand Am.
As far as asking for permission from my fiancee, it's not so much as asking permission. It is making the decision as a team - examining finances, allocating money, and discussing whether or not we want to do it. And she said yes, absolutely. It's just nice to be on the same team.
Stay tuned.. Hopefully all works out!
Interesting philosophy..My wife was just discussing this same statement with me the other day. Funny thing is after 14 years of marriage when she talks all I see is her lips moving and nothing coming out. I like your other comment better you know the one.."Better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. LOL just bustin your chops bro, good luck with your purchase and your marriage.
One more thing, Do yourself a favor and just go to Harley and do dealer assist. They charge you 500.00 to transfer all the title information to your name. I believe the can take your cashiers check call the local Harley dealer in there area and they will help you out..for 500.00 it's well worth the money.
I have contacted the bank, unfortunately it was already closed so hopefully I hear back in the morning. The family that owns the motorcycle is going to get all of the necessary paperwork that my bank needs faxed over tomorrow, so hopefully we can tie up the loose ends before the weekend so I can drive down Monday and pick it up. It is about a 6 hours drive one way to where I have to go, but it will be worth it.
That tank emblem is awful but the rest of the bike is money dude.
I'm did not HD dealerships offered that service.
I think you are gonna be ok with going through your bank though. I don't see why they would have a problem making the check payabke to the credit union.
The softail deluxe is the best looking stock softail and that's saying something. I love all of the softails but the deluxe is one of my favorites. Great choice and I hope everything works out
