Default Handlebars/Risers/FLH Style Handlebar Clamp Cover

Ok everyone..

I'm starting to make my parts list for the 2012 Deluxe project. Already decided to go with 18" Wild1 Chubbies, and steel braided lines/cables. What I am stuck on is I have seen others use the FLH style handlebar clamp cover (similar to what the Road King's use also). My questions are; is there a specific cover to use, and what risers & top clamp are you using underneath? I'd like to go with this setup to hide the wires coming through the bars at the bottom, as well as the taper from 1 1/4" to 1" at the clamp. Here is a photo of what I am talking about, in case this is confusing:

From what I was able to find when I was looking into this, it will only work if you have the freight train nacelle. Otherwise the cover doesn't have anything to attach too. They also have a specific rise they recommend for use with the nacelle.

Well isn't that a kick in the ***... I think with enough perseverance, a guy could make it work. It would definitely take some trial and error to get it done, though seeing as it is meant to be used with the freight train nacelle. I think I want to stick with the headlight as it is, a separate unit from the front end. It has a little classier feel, in my opinion.

Ok. Now for another question. What risers are you guys running for tall apes? I'm a firm believer in the taller the bars, the shorter the riser. My night train had a standard 1 1/2" riser with a single top clamp, and four clamp bolts. I noticed that I periodically had to keep tightening up the clamp in order to keep the bars from slipping. Also, will be putting either poly or rigid bushings in the trees to prevent flex in the risers. (I'm thinking rigid would be too rough on the hands with vibration).

options on the apes

1. Run a 1.25 riser but heres what keeps them from moving (the easiest way) Get some drywall sand paper and run it inside the riser against the bar I promise they wont slip...
2. get tree hugger apes they actually have the risers bilt on the bars them selves.

I'm sure there are other ways but I have found that this is the easiest way..

These risers from J&P look to be pretty good - and they have a thicker stem on them. I wonder how well they would match up with the factory top clamp.

They will bolt up to the trees, but won't work with the factory top clamp. The top clamp that is required needs the "angled" bolt pattern, where the factory one has the straight bolt pattern.

Not all bad though, they look like some beefy risers!

I ran a 1.5" set from j&p for like a year and a half with my apes. Really happy with the quality overall. Well worth the money. Switch to heritage risers so the j&p parts are up for sale.
