Default Reassembly Begins!

Well, I managed to start getting things back together last night - got the handlebars wired, the trees back on, started putting a couple of small pieces on as well (air cleaner assembly, top motor mount). Took a couple pictures (not real great pictures but at least it is something nonetheless. Saturday and Sunday I should really be able to kick some butt on it and get it mostly together minus the tins and wheels. As always... More pictures to come.

I know these one to two picture posts are redundant, but I am slowly accumulating parts. Tomorrow I have to pick up some Amsoil fork oil and then will spend all day in the garage getting the front end back together, removing and installing the rear chock lowering bolts, getting the front fender and tank back on... And possibly finishing up the exhaust. That way all I have to do is get the rear fender and bags mounted, and install the rims and tires. I decided to do some finishing touches on the wiring today, and here is what I accomplished after work this evening:

It's the little details - factory vinyl covering was left in place, and nylon webbing was installed.

Default Front End Reasembly

Spent about 11 hours in the garage today getting the front end back together with the monotubes, the tank on, and the fishies. I didn't get around to pulling the rear shocks to install the lowering bolts, but I'll get to that next weekend, probably. I'm still waiting on my fender and bags to come back from the body shop, and my wheels should be here during the first week of March (I hope). Here are a few (crammed) pictures to show you. I don't have much room to work in my "shop", as you can tell.. But I get work done the best I can. The reason I was out there for 11 hours? I had a few wiring issues that were entirely my fault, and had to troubleshoot - I'm a bit too embarrassed to admit what it was... It may have involved flipping pins around during reassembly.

Here are the pictures...

I was able to get into the garage again for a couple hours today - removed the shocks, installed the rear lowering bolts (see my homemade press below), and changed all of the fluids. Also was able to break out my Superchips Vigilante and install it on the bike. I figured I had better give it a test run, and took some video... (Besides, I had to hear how the 103" sounded with cholos and no baffles. I'm definitely satisfied. Stay tuned as I will be posting that shortly. Here are the photos of my "press":

A view of the homemade press.

Blocked up and pressed. This may work under the hitch of a truck as well?

Remove the retaining clip, and there you have it!

Default Update

Well, I heard from the body shop today. The fender and bags will be ready for pick up tomorrow. I can't wait to get started on putting the back end back together.. Hopefully my wheels will ship this week, and I'll be able to get this thing back on the floor and off of the jack - maybe even get it rolled out into the sun to take a few pictures for you guys.

I'm considering entering it in the local show here (Donnie Smith Bike Show), that is at the St. Paul RiverCentre at the end of March. Grand prize I think is like $1500.00 - and if I won that, it would be a great way to pick up a Shotgun system right quick! What do you guys think? Does my bike sound "show quality"?

Stay tuned - more photos coming tomorrow after I pick everything up!

It sounds money dude!!! Pipes and bars look good.

But why is that thing idling so fast? At that rate you're gonna go through half a tank of gas just sittin at a traffic light.

Thanks man!

I've gotta adjust the throttle/idle cables. When I first started it you could tell that the throttle wasn't in the idle position. I've got some final adjustments to make yet, but it should come together nicely within the next couple weeks!

AAAAHHHH. Makes total sense.

I was thinking it was something with your tune.

I'm excited to see this completed and watch the vids

By the way, it was funny how every time you cranked on the throttle the camera would move.

Not only would the camera move, but the whole bike would twist on the lift, I had to hold it in place! That little fella wants to GIDDY UP!
