2012 Deluxe Build Begins...
Oh well. Maybe next winter I'll do that.
Figured since I was bored and had the night off I would throw the cyclevisions kit on and see how my stretched bags look. I like the look without the bags and with the bags - the brackets (since I opted to go with the black powdercoat finish) bland in very nicely with everything, so when I run it stripped down I should be able to do so without even having to deal with removing the brackets. That was one thing I was concerned about. I think the bags look killer, personally (even though I will probably ride it stripped down most of the time). I'm real impressed with how accurately the fender stretch and bags all lined up looking from the rear. The fender is tucked in about 3/4" to 1" at the bottom compared to the bags, but I didn't want it to look stretched out too long towards the back when running without bags.
One thing I found out though - the center/crossover brace that comes with the kit will not work with my stretched fender. I'm going to either have to modify the piece, or make my own. The factory support bracket inside the fender is in the way of the crossover brace, and will not allow it to sink back all the way into the fender so that I can bolt the bracket in place. Not a huge deal though. Everything seems darn rigid without it, and with it I can only imagine how rock solid it will be. I'll have to get ahold of some steel and modify it to work with the fender, but should be an easy fix.
Also found out the stock seat is a little wide, and rubs slightly on the front inside corner of the lids of the bags. Maybe next year when I have the seat re-covered, I'll have to have the rear section narrowed up about a 1/2" on each side. It will do for now, though. Now, for the pictures with the bags... I know what you are thinking, too.... That bike needs WHEELS.. Well, you are right.

I can't wait to see it all finished up with the wheels. Hopefully they come through for you soon.
