I cannot remeber my security code for my alarm system, can the dealer retrieve it or am I SOL and have to buy another module?

In the manual (owners) it tells you how to do or change it on page 61, table 19.

If you don't have it I'll try to type it out for you.

1. With the ignition fob present turn the IGN **** from Ignition-off-Ignition-off-Ignition.

2. Press the left trun signal switch 3 times.

3. press the right turn signal switch 1 time and release.

The turn signals will flash 3 times and it will display the current setting in the odometer window.

Now take that card that's in the back of the owners manual and write it down.

You should be able to just turn the Ignition switch off and walk away from it with the setting unchanged.

But if you want to change it to something different leave it on and press the left turn signal button till it displays the new number in the first position.

Then hit the right button once to save it and move to the next position.

Repeat the process for all the 5 digits.
After the last one is input hit the right button 1 time like before then turn IGN switch off.

That will save the new number, just be sure you write it down on the card or something and put it in your wallet for when you really need it.

It'll save you from having to go through this again.

Good Luck and have fun. [sm=biker2.gif]

BTW I did make one BIG error in that I 'ASSUMED' that you have the newer "Security System II' in your bike.
If your bike has theolder version in it I haven't a clue how that one works. So those instructions probably won't work properly.
If you don't have the owners manual I would get one from the dealer and or print out a copy of what I posted, add the code numbers you have put in and stick it with the bike title, or someplace else where you won't loose it later, just in case.

My bad, I should of put it in my post that my bike is a 2002 FXST. I will check the manual to see if the procedure is the same.

OOPS!! Bet you 5 bucks what I posted isn't going to help you at all.
If your bike has afactory installed system it was put in before the'II' system was avalable.
Not sure the exact date they changed over to the 'II' system, but if I had to guess I would say it was more like 2005 or later.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. Good Luck and I hope its as simple as the newer one.

The Service Manual for my '02 Deuce is something similar to that (might be the same, I didn't look it up) but as I recall the way it tells you the existing code is by how many times the turn signal lights flast. They will flash the sequence of your code and if you want to you can change it at that time too. Anyway I'd guess that might be the only difference, the old ones flash lights to tell you the existing code, the new ones show you something in the odometer window.

Glad it worked out for you, just sorry I didn't know it was the older system before I wasted all that typing. [sm=laughingsmilie.gif]

Well.............it actually hasn't worked, it is a real mickey mouse way to do it compared to the new bikes, now I can see why they upgraded the later models. I will get it sooner or later. Thanks again
