Yeah, I was going to suggest a buddy. Even better, a woman with hot legs but that might be a distraction. Should only need 5 minutes of someone's time. Harbor Freight has them also for $66. I am sure quality can be a concern with such a cheap price.

buy a jack and don't f-around doing stupid stuff trying to save money. you'll regret it when something happens and costs alot more to fix than the price of the jack. after you do your work you'll find out how easy it is to clean your bike with it in the air which again is another reason to buy a jack. I use the yellow aluminum jack from sears. fits under my lowered train where the standard red one doesn't.

I also have the yellow one...was going to buy the cheaper red one but read a bunch of reviews on e-pinions or somewhere else...basically most of the guys who responded gave the red one two thumbs down for various reasons...from early failures to not being able to get repair parts for it from Sears, etc. I'm very happy with the yellow/aluminum one and it's currently on sale. Ditto on being able to wash it on the jack as being a bonus....[8D]

did my forward controls tonight. My buddy next door held the bike while I did the left side. Cost for this? $0. I will buy a lift when I do the 200mm tire kit. After all, when I can afford that, I can afford a good jack.
