Brake wire splice on a 2014 Heritage Classic
I have a 2014 HD Heritage Classic. I bought a trunk with tail lights that I want to hook up to existing brake wire. I took it to the local HD dealer that I wanted the trunk lights wired to existing brake wire(s). I was told that they don't "splice or cut."
Based on their less-than-enthusiastic response, I'm entertaining the idea of splicing the brake wire. Any tips or ideas where to splice (or posi-tap) onto bike brake wire? Has anyone spliced or posi-tapped into a 2014 Heritage?
Thanks
Nemar
You'll see three there.
Two connectors go to your turns and/or brakes, the center one with only two wires handles the license plate light.
I found out while adding a center brake light under the fender of my Slim.
(This is of course assuming the wiring harnesses are the same across Softails, which I believe they are.)
Here's a thread about it that may help - at least it will help in identifying the connectors (check out the red "blank" shown for the Slim - it doesn't have a dedicated center brake light - this is where you should find your brake light circuit):

..and another with wiring diagrams - sorry I don't have the exact wire color you're looking for though.
