FXSTC seat
Just got my new FXSTC yesterday and started looking things over. The seat tab at thefront is about 1.5 inches too far away from the frame opening to lock in. You can pull the front of the seat up if you want too. Any boby else notice this. Seems like every other page in the shop manual or service manual warns to make sure it is locked in, but in my case can't be done. It's like they revitted the tab in the seat too far away.

Make sure you are putting the seat tab in the proper location on the bike. On my FXSTI there is a spot just ahead of the correct location that looks real similar. I made the mistake the first time I replaced the seat on my bike.
When I got my custom home I noticed the same thing. After playing around for a while I got the seat to fit and lock in properly with the front tab in the correct place.
Becareful not to overtighten the two rear seat nuts that secure the back of the seat to the sissybar. When I went to undo the seat the nuts and bolts justspin(put my nuts in a spin as well!). It would appear thebolts inside the seat are not well secured to the seat base to avoid this happening. Had to remove the sissybar to remove the seat.
My first warranty claim - not much to whinge about.
Enjoy your ride.

Mine also seems to take a lot more effort toget under the lip as well (compared to previous bikes). I'm used to it now though from switching it out for the solo so frequently. I usually start it and smack down on it with one hand while slowly pushing it forward. I can get it to secure this way. Might be all you need to do. Make sure you are catching thecorrect frame lip though - not just the extra several inches of dash cover that hangs way too far back.........

Only one place for the tab to slip into on the frame. Tab on the seat too far back. Worst part is that they didn't see it in the pdi prior to me picking up the bike. Did notice the sissy bar seat attachment as less than ideal in the bolt locking department, but ok if one is carefull. Dealer also had a twist in the strap when they installed the seat. Checked the positive terminal of the battery, (which is why I took the seat off in the first place) and it was set to horizontal. There is no way the terminal will contact the frame done this way. Since the service manual clearly states 30 degree angle, you have to wonder if the wrenches know something and are not talking about it. At the horizontal position the boot will not fit. It was just an ugly orange mangled blob jammed in there.
I will chew the dealer out, take a photo of the seat tab with tape measure for location and relocate it myself.
I have to point out that the seat appears to slip into the front tab, but when the sissy bolts are tightend and you sit on the seat the tab is no longer in the frame pocket. The front of the seat moves rearward. The lower lip of the leather tank strap gives the impression it's ok, as it hangs up on it when you pull up on the seat. No longer metal to metal.
