Mine is also a MS QD type.

If I recall in the book they make 2 types of fairings for HD.

The FX and the FL
Fx has a hole your headline goes in to.
FL goes over the headlight.

It is the brackets that make them fit different models.

Same BW with different brackets for different width front forks on 2 different FX's

Plus another on the fairing. I've owned both and the fairing gives better protection in the cold. I had a Ultra Classic and loved the fairing but not all the extra weight that went with it.
I like the Memphis Shade Batwing the best. It's a little smaller than some of the others, comes off in seconds, has multiple windshields available (short, tall, curved, uncurved), adjustable angles and is light.
Tunes are available for it but after the bells and whistles of the Ulra I'm kinda liking the simplistics of a bare bones Sofatil.

Up to personal opinion and style, but I put a Memphis Shades on my 01.

Fairings look good on a few Softails...not on the Heritage IMO. Go with a larger windshield.

I bought my 07 Heritage in Feb, and it had the fairing. It's not one of the fairings made for stereos etc like the big baggers.
However, I installed my head unit and 2 speakers in the fairing and now have 2 more speakers mounted on the luggage rack.
My stereo turned up to 24 is loud enough to hear clearly @ 70+ mph.

Everyone who has looked at my bike has commented on how good the fairing looks on it! I ride a good bit and like the fact the wind isn't blowing me off the bike all day!

Ultimately your choice of fairing or windshield but I will always go with less wind on me than not lol

Hi what windshield did you go with on your Slim? I returned the HD one I ordered that was recommended for the 18 Slim because it was too tall. Still shopping. Kinda interested in a fairing, not batwing, but I'm old school and like the looks of a windshield.
