I just put on Wild One 18' apes on my Heritage Classic. Was wondering if anyone else has and if so if you could tell me what size over stock did you go on the brake line, throttle and idle cable and clutch cable. I am done installing the bar with internal wiring.
My first thought for an answer was, "Bananas." Then when I saw the size of the bars, 18 feet, I thought I'd better be nice 'cause you must be even bigger than Big Ted!
On a slightly more cereal note, have you tried taking some copper wire and routing it as you would the cables, etc.? Measure the length of your original stuff, measure the length of the mock-up wire, and order as needed.
I don't know if this will help any, but when I put some apes on my Springer, it listed in the catalog which parts went along with it. All that we had to do was just order the extra cables and such and everything went right into place.
Did that but thought If someone had already done this with 18in cables then I would confirm the size and not have any hesitation about ordering what I measured
Springer, what catalog might that been. I would like to take a look at it before I order what I measured. Just want to make sure that I don't get it wrong and then have a problem.
what I did with my 12' was after everything was hooked up was take the stock cables, run them and mesure how much more length I needed. For mine it was 6 over stock.
I have already done that. I was just hoping that someone with the 18's would have an exact measurement just to confirm that what I came up with is right. Don't want to take a chance if I don't have to and someone on the forum did the 18"s and has the numbers
The catalog that I got mine out of was the HD catalog that the dealer gave me. I double checked and they don't have apes that go that high, Sorry. The apes that I put on my Springer were the mini-apes, I didn't want to try apes that tall, since these were my first ones.

I putting a set of 16" apes on my fatboy, The HD cat lists +10 ( 10" over stock ) as the max you can get from them. That should be enough for install and if they are too long I'll drop loop the slack in a few spots. I 'm useing steal braided cable for everything I can
Thanks for the info. Did you go 10 over on all the cables??? Throttle, idle, clutch and brake line?? I got to figure that the fatboy bars are lower than the heritage and if I go 10 over on the 18" apes it should work out.
