I know I've read lots of others are not accurate, I must have got a good one.
My Reserve light Has always come on when there is between .9 and 1.1 gallons left in the tank and still does even though I had to replace the gas line in the tank (had a hole in it) and filter around 33k miles....

Granted, I understand they aren't perfect, but sometimes when I read postings that "they are so inaccurate go by mileage instead", I feel like it is simply lore that has been passed down over the decades. Maybe those that feel like they have an inaccurate gauge should look into getting a better one.

While some want to add a gauge, others want it gone. Diversity is a great thing. Otherwise, life would be boring!
I have that same one BoneDoc. Mine doesn't work worth a dang. I'm in the process of removing it. In doing so, I may have found that the culprit may be the connector under the tank. I've also been seeing the low fuel light comes on often with a full tank. When the gauge is disconnected, the low fuel light is on all the time.
I prefer to use the odometer as a "gauge" like many others do.
I just have to see if there is a way to make the low fuel light function without the gauge. There looks to be a couple work-arounds, so we shall see.

You're probably right. I still wanna get rid of it. Mostly because of the fuel cap itself. It has a cheezy "chrome plastic outer ring that glues to the tank. That "chrome" is peeling off. I just want conventional looking caps.
