Just off-hand, did he have the Dealer recalibrate the ABS after the front end work? The ABS might be trying to push fluid for 2 calipers when there's only one.

Yeah, it sucks either way, and you feel helpless, but while you'd be making decisions/reactions at around 1-2 per second, the ABS was making them for you at around 50 times/second.
You'll be pleased to know that I still disagree with you on this Mr Furry. Whether or not the ABS can make decisions / reactions 50 times a second and my lowly brain can only do 1 - 2 which I highly disagree with the simple fact is that the ABS decisions are based on an algorithm stored on the bike and I would imagine not a very complex one either. It doesn't know or care that the reason the wheel has stopped turning is because of sand, gravel, 10' of snow or whether the rider is just showing off. It doesn't know where it is, what the road conditions are, the condition of the tyres, what obstacles are around or even how heavy the rider is and it doesn't have 35 years of experience. My slow little brain does know all of this stuff and it uses it all when I'm riding.

I think a good analogy for the ABS here is - "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

Bollocks! (did I get that right?... too much "Ashes to Ashes")
Yes Bollocks is correct

I never took the chances when I was 30 that I take today, but I think it's due to Toxoplasmosis.
You need to stop eating those road kills or was that in reference to my earlier ***** comment.

Enjoy your retirement Furry and get off your damn computer and go riding, or do you not ride in the rain ;-)

Hes gonna unplug it and ride without it before we get too crazy.

If he decides its gotta go, we figure we'll remove it, call spiegler for custom lines, add spacers in place of the sensors, and possibly replace the ECM with an ECM off of a non-ABS SG. Maybe one that was crashed or being parted out. Not sure about that part yet.

Of course, this will require a new dyno tune but he knows it'll cost some $.

Hardest part I can figure is pulling the ABS's wiring harness from the bike.
Thanks bullast, good to read a post on topic. I think the way you've described, basically removing everything then replacing ECM and wiring harness is the proper way to do it.

There's a thread here in the Aussie forum with some info -

https://www.hdforums.com.au/Default....&postid=461579

I'm going to look into the possibility of using resistors to make the ECM think the ABS is still in place.
