Default To ABS or not to ABS...

So, the brand new 2014 48 that I had was recently totaled. Now I am in the market for a new one. My dealers has got another 2014 Forty Eight with ABS reserved for me at the shop...

I now wonder how the ABS would have helped me at the time of the Accident... So now I think I should have initially invested in an ABS model.

So what are your thoughts? If you have an ABS model, any issues with it?

Thanks!

Given a choice I would always choose a vehicle with ABS, if you brake properly you'll never know it's there except when you're glad it was. IMHO

ABS doesn't change physics, it just prevents wheel lockup during braking.
Whether ABS would have changed the outcome of the crash depends on the collision evidence and forensics present at scene.
Based on damage photos you posted, it appears you were upright and still decelerating from about 25-30mph when the impact occurred.
IMO, it is unlikely the presence of ABS would have changed the outcome in this instance.
Had you locked up and gone down prior to impact, then ABS would have helped you maintain control up to the point of impact. ABS may have also allowed you to take other evasive actions such as steering around the impact target.

Yes, I would and do choose ABS on my bikes. It's one of many tools in your box to help you keep it upright and from locking the brakes. If anything, choose ABS for wet pavement and hard unexpected braking. There are many arguments for and against, you know your riding capabilities and style better than anyone else. If you have an "oh ****" moment, and are fortunate enough to remain upright, you may ride your way out of a worse position once ABS is engaged. Again, some like it, some swear against it, I'm a fan.

ABS is great when it's available on a bike. I would choose it over the non abs model.

Yes, I was up right and I think I probably would have been able to swerve out of the way if I had ABS. But, its too late now haha... but my next bike will have ABS which I will test out.

I spent 8 days in a hospital and 5 months of rehab, if I'd had ABS at the time I would not have went down like I did more than likely. Every bike I've had since then I make sure its got ABS brakes. YES, get ABS if you can I say.
