Looking at the 95 Heritage w/17K on the clock, overall in good shape been searching for second bike, was looking at a sporty but the idea of a Softail at almost similar price has me thinking. For those who own/owned one what should I be looking out for....thx in advance. Currently own a 13 FLHTC.
Good luck with your purchase! Last year I bought a 93 Heritage Softail w/15k for 5 grand. Original owner, all stock except for the SE Mufflers. I asked for info here and many were helpful. Let me pass that on.
Consider changing out your cam bearings. They are a known weak point. Also change out the clutch. I was told the 7th disk is riveted and this can come apart with severe consequences.
I'll state the obvious here-look at the tires. Not the tread but the production date, and also the sidewalls. Look for any cracks or dry rot. Change them out if you have any question at all. I just received my whitewall Avons for my 93. Will be installing in the next month or so. Check all fuel lines and any other rubber on the bike. Check the gas tank. If it hasn't been stored properly you'll be in to the carb. Not a bad idea to clean that out anyway.
Good luck and let us know if you buy it. And of course...Pics!
