What a sad concept.
Some people have a protective clear wrap on their cars to protect them from getting chipped up, I was curious if anybody did something similar to protect their regulator cover.
Well they do make a protective covering for it called rattle can black;-)
It took me 66 years to get past your statement ..Chips not as glaring on the chrome cover?
And I am still working on it.... ..Sadly, cataracts and bad floaters from PVD have helped a lot but that cure is worse then the problem was...So for you.
Go straight to the blackboard and write 100 times (with real chalk). "Chips are a sign on honor on a Harley"
This may be your only hope..Your condition can get out of hand..
It took me 67 years. Bad floaters here, also. 'Damn, that was a big fly'.
I've never had a cover, but drive a lot of gravel roads in the country and dirt paths at various rallies and campgrounds, and I think it would probably collect mud and debris, you'd have to clean it often.
I was thinking about replacing my front wheel with a 21" and getting either a deluxe fender or one of those wheel hugging fenders, but I like my OEM chrome wheels.
I also thought about getting a front spoiler in chrome and getting that wrapped with a protective skin to hide and protect it, and add a little chrome to the lower front.
Which paint for matching the color for the regulator?

Hah, my wife is my "beatup regulator". Sometimes she saves me from dishin' it out (and probably going to jail), and sometimes she gives me advice that saves me from gettin' it.
