I haven't fully settled into the bike since I bought it last July. I test rode some bikes at the dealership yesterday and almost traded for a Street Glide Special. But I came to my senses and decided if I'm going to go that router, I'll look for a used '14 or '15 and save some money.
Even though I'm 6', my arms are above my shoulders when I ride and giving me an ache in the middle of my shoulder blades. I'm going to order the 12" Strip Bars and try them out to see if that helps.
Exhaust - VH Shortshot Staggered to VH Pro Pipe
Bottom line, the exhaust is just too loud. Plus I really like the looks of the Pro Pipe on the FBL.
Extended forward controls
I installed forward controls from an '09 Night Train and love them. They just need to be set a little further out. I'm going to order the Arlen Ness forward control extension kit because they are the only ones that sell it for ABS and it's only $175.
I'll be putting the 14" Wild 1 Outlawz and VH Shortshots in the classified sections as soon as the new parts get here. PM if you're interested now.
I'm going to take this week and think though what I want to do. I might put the bike for sale and go back to a Road King or go completely to the dark side and get a Street Glide. I really need about 5 bikes (don't we all) but need to make 1 bike work all the way around.
Sounds like to me you have serious reservations about the fatboy. I bought my bike last june and still getting used to it after being on fxdl for 10 yrs. I know I will have to get it right because I can handle it much better, most everything else is just to top heavy for my little ***, plus its plain gorgeous. Give it some more saddle time.

I don't know if the bars are going to be the solution. I have changed bikes and so many handlebars thinking that was the problem but the pain still comes after riding an hour or more. It ruins my ride. I have been told by quite a few people to get a seat with a backrest and I always counter that the pain is between my shoulder blades and not my lower back. Then my wife reminded me that the only time I didn't experience that pain is when I had a seat with a backrest on my '07.

I rode with a backrest all day yesterday. An hour after the ride, I forgot all about it. It just bothered me during the ride. Maybe I'm just old

This week I am getting the adjustable Helibars installed on my Limited. I have the same issue and I am going to keep moving those bars until I find the correct position. As to the original post, take lots of before and after pictures.
