I did the Chrome front end this winter and although I love the look, it has been a lot of nitpicking to get it back to where I started as far as being happy.
I had a local dealer install used chrome lowers I got from a buddy and I bought the caps and covers on ebay.
I also had both tires replaced while I was had the bike in.
The dealer put a seal in backwards and it leaked. They didn't tighten up the risers. I don't think they balanced the new front tire as it is not as smooth as it used to be. Tightening the neck did help.
I now have vibration-rattle coming from the nacelle. I can't tell if it is rattling against the top of the triple tree or the fork uppers. Any opinions or past experience before I start installing weather stripping or adjusting for tightness or clearance would be appreciated.
I have the same problem with my '04 Heritage with the nacelle. When I took it apart I found some of the rubber grommets were torn so I replaced those, wire tied the headlight wires so they would not vibrate against the housing, put thin strips of electical tape around the trim ring, etc. Bottom line i could never figure out what was causing the rattle. Oh, I did suspect that it had something to do with the bolts that hold it on to the front legs, but I never really confirmed this. Good luck and please post the solution if you find it. For now I just ignore it.
